Limiting Design. App nonsense.

Apathetik 3/16/2020

I just got a pair of these a few days ago to replace a pair of Jaybird X2's that I had for quite a long time. I mostly knew what to expect from the research I did before purchasing. But a few things sneaked past my research. I'll start with the worst offender. The Galaxy Wearable's App. I have an older Samsung Galaxy S5. And while Samsung, and Carrier support for this device has long since past. The specs of the phone, and especially convenience features like being able to easily replace the battery, have kept me from wanting to upgrade to a new model phone. And thanks to a certain custom android OS for the device (which I'm not sure I can mention here?), I've been able to maintain feature upgrades, android version upgrades, and often much faster security updates than both Samsung and my local carriers. So it was much to my surprise when I got the Buds, and went to install the Galaxy Wearable's app on my phone. That I find it would not run because it detected that I was running a modified version of Android. But it turns out, it only performs this check on Samsung Devices. They are effectively punishing only their own customers in this way, which almost made me immediately return these earbuds. I did get it working, by making my phone appear to the app as a Google Pixel. Regardless of this fact though. I find it rather absurd that they only run this check and prevent app usage on their own devices. If there's some security concern about running their app on a custom OS. It should perform that check and not run, regardless of what phone it thinks you're using. But that is not the case. Now that I have the app actually working. I am disappointed with how little functionality I get for all the effort that I put into actually getting it working. The options for customizing the controls are incredibly limited. The fact that I can't have volume and Ambient Sound assigned to the controls at the same time is an absurd limitation (for example, Quick Ambient Sound on left bud, and Volume Down on right bud). I also feel like there are more gestures they could be using and aren't. Such as swipes, 1/2/3 taps THEN hold, instead of just a single tap and hold being the only customizable gesture. They should also include a gesture for locking the touch pads (which currently can only be done via a toggle in the Wearable's app). On to the buds themselves. So far, I mostly like them. The music audio quality is certainly acceptable. But is definitely what you would expect from something their size. I don't talk much on my phone, so I can't speak in regard to call quality. However, the Ambient Sound pass through audio quality is... ok when it picks out the right sounds, but seems to like to pick up humming or hissing noises from the surrounding and pass those through just as much as someone trying to talk to you. Which causes problems hearing occasionally. As far as their physical design, I was hesitant to move to a "True Wireless" design coming from my previous Jaybird X2's that were tethered via a wire between the buds, with in-line controls there. Which allowed me to wear them with the wire hooked over my ear for a more secure fit. So far, they seem to stay in quite well. But there are some design issues that are causing me problems. The wingtips have small slots cut into them on the bottom that act a a key way to ensure you put them on in the correct direction and orientation. Unfortunately, the bud in my right ear fits better when rotated differently than the wingtip is oriented for. But due to the keyed nature, it's really hard to get the wingtip rotated correctly for my right ear.

Stay in my ear. Functionallity is dissapointing.

Ragingun 3/13/2020

Have been using these daily for a month. I love how light weight they are, the charging case, and they do have good sound. The negatives far outweigh the positives. I am currently listening to them and my spotify is playing however the sound has cut out yet again as my music continues to play. This issue is constatnly happening. For high end and specifically Samsung earbuds you'd think they'd offer much more functionality. You have to wear both to use the ambient sound feature, you have to wear both to control the volumes. You can only use the touch feature for one function at a time such as volume, voice command, or to turn on ambient sounds which still doesn't work with just one earbud in. So you can't use voice command without switching the option on your phone first and then using it, well heck I may as well just use my phone then. Even when the touch feature you have programmed is turned to what you want it to be if you don't connect it to your phone the feature doesn't work. In other words I have them connected to my Galaxy 3 frontier watch and none of the touch features work regardless of what you have them set to on the phone app and it's not adjustable via the watch either. Wake up, you make all 3 of these devices. You're epically failing your customers in a world that requires connectivity!!! There are other earbuds out there that have all of these features constantly active.

Hard to keep in ears when sweating

Mark 3/4/2020

These are great for casual wear. But they slip loose of your ears constantly when running and sweating. They also trap all the moisture/sweat inside your ears while using them. It would be nice if there was a better grip while sweating and running and some type of air allowed into the ear canals.

Commute use only. Used lightly. Broke twice!

Robert 3/3/2020

These are by far my favorite wireless earbuds for the size, fit, and ease of use. Would be good if the worked though, right? First set broke. Samsung sent another set. Second set, only one broke. Now I think I am stuck because it has been about a year since the original purchase.

Sound quality is perfect

Muzzsader 2/20/2020

I've had my buds for about 3 months now. The sound quality when playing music is excellent! The fit is perfect too (I had to use the larger earbuds which were provided in the box). The only issue I have, is the sound is terrible when making/taking calls. The person on the other line can never hear me & it always breaks up. This happens to me as well whenever my husband calls me (he has the same earbuds). It is always a muffled sound & isn't very clear. When taking calls I prefer to use the headphones that my S10+ came with.

Carlossamtana 2/18/2020

I bought my Samsung wireless earbuds to exercise with. I absolutely love them. They fit perfectly in my ears and don't fall out. They are true wireless so nothing to catch a button on. The case actually charges the buds, plus I can put the case on my phone for wireless charging. Just awesome!

Worst calls ever

Hatethebuds 2/11/2020

If you plan on making phone calls on these buds forget it! They have the worst sound, everyone thinks you're underwater or can't understand you at all. Samsung sent me a second pair and they were just as bad. Now I've been waiting over a month for my money to be returned. Each representative I speak to gives me a different story. Good thing Airpods work great on Galaxy phones.

Galaxy is best!

__X__ 2/6/2020

Have had these for almost two weeks and they work great with my Galaxy S8 (even though the sound lags sometimes when I put my phone in my pocket while I'm walking) and will probably work even better with my soon to be S20 device when Samsung fully releases it. The Ambient Sound works great for me and is useful if I want to not be completely sealed off from the outside world. The Equalizer works pretty good too for different types of music as well in your playlists. If you currently have or are planning to get a Galaxy device, I can not recommend these enough!

Was so excited to have them, now they don't work.

Nene 2/5/2020

I bought these headphones for my husband for Christmas, he was so excited to have them and started using them asap. He uses them frequently and takes care of them, he loved the fitting as well and the features. Everything was working great until it wasn't. THEY JUST STOPPED WORKING. one month of use and they just stopped working, we tried resetting directions but the device would connect or charge for us to reset, we are trying to contact support to see what they suggest. I would expect this to happen to an off brand wireless headphones but Definitely Not Samsung... We love the Phone and expect the same standards with the Buds

Good earbuds with one issue

Ali0 2/4/2020

The connectivity with my phone is really good, the touch pad and the easiness is impressive. However, the design even though it doesn't fall from my ear at all, but it closes up everything that I can hear my breath. I know most people like it, but I don't, and it latterly causes me headache. I wish Samsung come up with a design similar to the Airpod, or Bose earbuds one. I will then surely buy it.

This things suck

Daniel 1/28/2020

Ear buds are not good at all no can understand me when used on a phone call and as soon as I take them off they hear me just fine. I also have a problem where they connect and disconnect all the time making it very annoying to use for music or videos. Sound quality is good when they work and they stay in very well is just those other problems that Samsung really needs to fix.

Now I Can Jam

Shanaye 1/21/2020

I originally purchased a pair of these for my husband as a Christmas gift and he LOVES them!! My daughter surprises me with a set as a belated Christmas gift and although earbuds for me are usually a pass, I really enjoy these. With other types of earbuds after a few minutes my left ear tends to hurt and I take them both out; but with these they fit comfortably with no worries. I am not big on loud sound and with the ambient noise turned off there is no need for me to turn the volume up to tune people and surroundings out; comfortable music for a comfortable ride on transit. Another great Samsung product!

Unreliable

Nina 1/16/2020

I got these earbuds a couple of months ago. The sound quality is good when listening to music or audiobooks, but for calls they are utterly horrible! Connection would drop from time to time and the call would switch from earbuds to phone. Yes, while the earbuds are staying tight in my ears and the phone is in my pocket. The other major issue is some kind of noise during calls. Hearing a set of tones from time to time, both me and the person that I am talking to. I see that updates are pretty regular, so i am hopeful that this can and will be fixed, but so far... Not worth buying.

Needs Work

annlyrenee 1/10/2020

I decided to take the plunge into the realm of smartwatches and wireless buds. The buds paired seamlessly with my Note 9 and Active Watch 2. The inner piece is too big for my ears so it hurts and has made the inside of my ear feel raw. I took the silicon off and tried to wear the buds that way. Finally they fit but would fall out of my ear. No one could hear me talk through the buds and that was very disappointing. Lastly, it was a bit confusing which bud to click to answer/end calls, volumn control and to stop/start music. This was due to me constantly trying to change settings so people could hear me once I answered calls. I really wanted this to work. Sound was incredible and having them in all day really improved communication. Nonetheless, they are both lost at this point. I hope the next model has a smaller inner piece and technology that improves the ability for people to hear you once a call is answered!!!

Needs Much Work

Lady_B 1/7/2020

The batter life and size are both great. The sound on the other hand is terrible! No matter how much I've changed the setting and upgraded, the sound is bad. All of my callers complain that my background sound is far louder than my voice. They also don't connect well with other apps. Whats App in particular (an app used around the world) it continues to disconnect from as well as fall short of other features like call answering. I went back to the wire headphones that came with my phone. These are not great at all

Amazing quality and comfort!

LizzyK 1/1/2020

Just wow! I don't know if my ears are weird, but I have had a hard time finding comfortable headphones. I've sent back Beats, even with all the adjustable heads, Beats never fit in my ear properly and they kept falling out. Galaxy Buds are so simple to use right out of the box! Seamless pairing, the touch controls are incredibly easy to use! I can tap it to pause if someone wants to talk to me, jump to another song, increase the volume without having to pull my phone out. They stayed in during a heavy workout, sound quality is superb and the comfort is the best I've had to date. Previous headphones may have felt comfy in my ear at first, but after long use, my ears start aching. Not with Galaxy Buds! These were comfortable and barely noticeable after hours of use! High quality product and definitely recommend! Also think these just look cooler than stupid airpods sticking out of your ears. Just my opinion.

These earbuds had at least a second of delay

Visho89 12/27/2019

When playing PUBG or Call of Duty Mobile, there was a second of delay. It didn't support other codecs such as aptx which have almost no delay when playing. Videos and music had also a short delay. Only on certain apps such as youtube, was it working without delay. The feature of being able to hear ambient sound was good, the fit was excellent. The part of the delay was the dealbreaker for which I sold it the next day.

Unable to review adequately

Coleton 12/23/2019

The day of buying the earbuds they immediately failed to work correctly and samsung support told me to file a warranty. I find it distasteful as a Samsung fan that the product really has no way to be fixed and its defective, and expect better quality as a consumer. Even while I may have gotten the 1/1000 bud that doesn't work, the dissatisfaction still exists. The sound quality kn the one bud is fantastic but as a product I can't recommend since mine failed to function. I can change my review once I get a working pair, but from what I've seen online countless people have had this issue, with none of them resolved. It seems like more than just a manufacturing anomaly.

Satisfied! But could be better (suggestion below)

snehilv 12/8/2019

The product is well designed and is very convenient to use. However, I believe the product can be made better. Here is what I observe: When I talk to someone while eating (not even something munchy), the sound of that is heard by the person on the other side. I believe this is due to the audio is being transferred, preferably using the internal microphone (not the external microphone). This hurts the overall experience. I think this can be easily fixed by a software/firmware update. I hope this is taken care of in later updates.

Right Ear Bud Does Not Charge

Houston77048 12/5/2019

The fit is perfect and I definitely do not have to worry about it falling out. My issue is the right ear bud is not charging. Noticed it after the initial charge where the left was at 100% and the right was at 75%. Since it is not charged it is not connecting to the device of course. Tried unpairing and other troubleshooting but nothing worked. I will be returning these but I will definitely be getting another pair.

Mediocre at best

Jimbo 12/4/2019

Coming from iphone and airpods, these buds are ok at best. I got my free with purcahse, other wise they would be going back for a refund. Apple has the seamless connection, ease of fitting into ear, and sound quality is better. The transparency mode on samsung is useless, i just get more white noise, no sound from my surrounding is amplified or made clearer. So, if you are stuck with android and want some buds check out the Sony W series or the sennheiser buds, do not pay $129 for these things.

Chan 11/27/2019

I was excited to purchase these head phones 6 months ago.... Well, whenever I try to use the headphones to talk people can't understand me and say I sound muffled. I have to continue to repeat myself or just take the call off the earpiece all together. I love Samsung and own just about everything they make from TV's, to phones, refrigerators, stove and microwave, but, this earpiece was my worse purchase ever from them.

FlyingEarBudExtroidinaire 11/24/2019

Thank you Samsung for the incredible design. I absolutely love how my ear buds propel 5ft+out of the charging case any time they are dropped from a 2 ft surface! Because of this I get to experience find the ear buds on the grass, find the earbuds in a dark parking lot, and have now had the pleasure of losing the second pair, both pairs lost in just 2 months! You are welcome for my money, i will not be buying these a third time. Awful design.

Pretty bad

Nikitriy 11/23/2019

I have been using them for how many months now. The sound is not bad, but for example Sony is better. the most important thing is that when playing music there are interference and that they are absolutely not suitable for calls. the one to whom I call hears me very badly, and sometimes I hear interference. I would like to return them of course, but time is lost

Pandamia 11/22/2019

I bought this over the summer. I LOVED the complete wireless aspect. During calls, it sounded decent. But listening to music, it sounded like I was listening through a paper towel tube. I was surprised, being a Samsung product. Didn't know how to go to "ambient mode". Maybe it was always on ambient mode due to poor sound quality, listening to Amazon music from my Samsung Galaxy phone. Was disappointed, I returned it.

AWESOME

I was thinking about which wireless earphone set to get between these and a few other brands but I didn't know much about the AKG sound besides the speakers on my tab S4 so when I was chosen to be a part of this campaign, I was THRILLED. They came pretty much the day after they shipped out and I was able to unleash a lovely world of music. They charged very quickly and the connection time was perfect. They connected to my phone so fast I didn't even know that the connection went through. All I did was open the case and my galaxy wearable app popped up ready to go.!!!! I love how small the case is because it can fit anywhere and the black is so amazing.! Also I love that they came with other ear gels to get the best fit for your ears.! Great job Samsung and thank you Insiders.!!!!! (My phone will not allow me to upload pics)

Cyndikins 11/19/2019

These earbuds are phenomenal. I use them at work throughout the day and they have plenty of charge left after an 8 hour workday. The sound quality is crystal clear and you can make adjustments to the bass, etc. Also, I have never had a pair of earphones or earbuds that has such noise cancelling properties before. Sometimes if I'm not paying attention to my surroundings at work, I'm not even aware of people talking to me. I literally connected these within seconds! I was listening almost immediately. The first time I had to charge, it charged extremely fast! I wasn't waiting long before I was back to it. I absolutely love these and I have suggested them to all of my Samsung loving friends. A++ in my book.

The Galaxy Buds, True Wireless Earbuds are by far the best ear buds that ive ever owned or used. Ive used many different brands over the years but none have compared to the crisp and clear sound quality and comfort of the Galaxy Buds. The sound quality is excellent and they fit great as well they dont look bad while wearing them either. They sync easy and have a great operating time. The charge will last me a couple days and thats great. I would highly recommend them for anyone who loves and enjoys listening to music.

Easy Buds

ErnieBaq 11/19/2019

My career requires me to travel a bit and I work from home. I had been researching ear buds for a while so I was very excited to try the pearl white ear buds. When I first opened the buds box I saw the case. The case is sleek and fits perfectly into my pockets. I also like, when fully charged it will charge the ear plugs without needing to be plugged in. I would estimate a fully charged use of the buds to get about 3-4 hours of use before it gently beeped to alert me it needed to be charged. Interestingly the right bud held a charge closer to 3 hours, whereas the left one would last a little over the 4 hours. So having the ability to pop the bud in the case for a quick recharge was very attractive to me. The buds themselves were actually bigger than I expected but it did not bother me at all once I had them on. They came with 3 different size rubber ear tips and bands. It allowed me to find the best fit. One thing I did notice is when I would use the buds for longer periods of time, it would warm my ears and the buds would slip out. I was also not able to use these more than walking. They did slip when I ran. I have a Android phone for my personal use and an iPhone for work and I did use the buds with iPhone 7 with no issues - but you don't get the super cool app that you can use with an android. It had many features for so many different ways to hear or not hear things. I used the noise canceling feature the most as the buds pick up every noise around you when your talking on the phone. Although the app was cool - I didn't find myself using it much after the initial awesomeness wore down, unless I was trying to pair the buds to other devices. The buds pair seamlessly with the phones but to pair with other devices - you do have to use the app. Overall, I wouldn't say these are for the active wearer but more for the sedentary type activities. I liked all of the features and the ease of use (which was super simple).

Ever since purchasing these sets of headphones it's been hard to put them down.. Clarity of sounds is beyond excellent. Base is perfect.. voice is clear.. Best of all I dont have to charge them as much.. The ability to to answer calls, pause, play, and skip music is great.. They fit very comfortable in my ears.

Could be better

JesseGee 11/19/2019

I had high expectations for these buds. I love the new design they feel more comfortable and are easier to pair with the phone. I like the new size of the buds, they're smaller than the Icon x and the case is also smaller. The new wireless charging feature makes it convenient to charge. The downside to the buds are the sound is too low. The previous model had the ability to Master control the volume on your phone. The volume control on the buds are also gone. You could slide up or down to conrol volume. These buds only have a tap system. Tap once to play/pause twice to fwd and tap three to rewind. Tap and hold to summon Bixby, Google or Alexa. These buds are a good start to better buds for next year's model.

An excellent in ear experience

cody109 11/19/2019

The Samsung Buds (black) came out of the box and provided an excellent design. These small compact buds fit perfectly in my ears and even came supplied with extra tips to assist the user. These buds worked perfectly with my wireless charger. After days of testing these headphones I found the following: Pros: Sound quality was great for the price Design was wonderful. Black color was a plus. Small and compact. Easy to carry around. Cons: iOS wasn't as user friendly as pairing with an android but the process wasn't bad. Overall, if you are looking for headphones that are great for the gym and everyday life: these will definitely fill that void.

Heaven for your ears

tkdfromnc 11/19/2019

I will admit that I'm a devout Samsung user. However, I have always been skeptical of the wireless earbuds. Why? I just felt that they would be way too easy to lose. Much to my surprise these earbuds stayed in place far better than my go to bluetooth earbuds. They're also way more comfortable. The sound is outstanding. I love that I can play and pause my music just by tapping the bud. No more fumbling with my phone to find the right button. Have a call coming in? Answer it the same way. I love listening to podcasts while falling asleep. However co-sleeping with 2 small kids isn't always conducive of that. I need to be able to hear as they give me a million reasons why they can't sleep. You've all heard them - I'm not tired, I'm bored, I'm hungry, I'm thirsty. Yeah, sure kid, I know you just want to get up to watch Octonauts all night. With these buds I just use one in the ear on the pillow and my kids never know the difference. The other remains in the case fully charged. Sure with regular bluetooth ear buds you can just leave one out but you're also draining more battery life and blasting your tunes for everyone to hear. The battery life is great. I have yet to deplete it because I've developed a routine. I leave my charging case plugged up unless I'm traveling when I bring it with me. At the end of my day I drop them in the case. When I'm ready to slip away into musical bliss I just open the case and they're sync automatically. Using them is just that simple. Conclusion? Buy these, your ears won't be disappointed!

Nice

soccermom973 11/19/2019

so i only gave it a 3 Star because it took me forever to get them to connect to my phone which is not a Samsung - i would not recommend these for other phones than Samsung users - you dont get to use all the functions nor is there a app that works with the my phone for these ear buds. Now that is my review when purchasing these i was told that they work for samsung and another phone brands which i get they do work, they are really nice and hold a charge but there is a reason they are called Samsung Galaxy Buds, you dont get use of alot of features.. Now my daughter has a Samsung and she loves them, she down loaded the app, they connected immediately - she has tons of options to use on her phone with the connectivity, battery life, keeping track of the ear buds etc. I have another brand that i use for my phone now and she said compared to my phones the Samsung Galaxy Ear Buds has so many more features. The battery life on the Galaxy Ear Buds is great - she listens to music all day long on her commute and on breaks and only charges them once a week.

Disappointed

TommyLove 11/18/2019

I purchased these Earbuds yesterday and will be taking them back today. The design and comfort is there, but the quality and feature use isn't. I have to repeat myself several times in order for the person on the other end to understand me. When you just have one Earbud in you can only use the Quick Ambiance feature. Also, you have to give up features in order to use another. You can't control the Sound + Ambiance & Voice Command all at the same time... You have to give up controlling the sound of your headphones with the touchpad in order to use the Ambiance & Voice command features. The volume is also not great at all. Even with the Earbuds + Phone volume turned all the way up. I really wish these were designed better because I really like the aesthetic & comfortability of them. Disappointed.

Worst earbuds. Ever.

MLUELOFF 11/15/2019

I drive a big truck for a living and an older full-size Ford diesel fro everywhere else. After much research I landed on these Samsung earbuds. And I can tell you these are the worst earbuds I have ever had. First off, call volume even not in a noisy environment is not loud enough for my ears. A basically quiet environment yielded the same results, and voice texting was next to impossible. I would have to go back and edit so much I should've just typed it in the first place. Which brings me to the second disappointment. In my research it looked like there was a Samsung app for the iOS. After much digging, no there is not. The app that is available does not seem to do much with the earbuds at all. If there is any amount of background ground noise at all, these earbuds are useless. It took me beyond the Best Buy two week return policy to try them out, but when I did the first couple of calls in my work truck no one could hear me. Another call from my personal truck. Same result. I could not be heard or understood. I could hear the caller, but not with great volume or clarity. Had I been able to figure this out prior to the end of the return time, they would've gone back immediately. More time went by, I upgraded my phone from an iPhone 6s Plus to an iPhone 11 Pro Max. A couple of more calls, no difference. Now I have an expensive paperweight that I can use to hold papers on my desk at home, but with the compact size and light weight I dare not turn on the ceiling fan for their fear they will fail their job at that. Samsung has always been top-tier in my book. But unless I really missed something in my research, these are overhyped and worthless
